Simple question! Its been high 30s-low 40s this week on my morning commute and Ive been topless, absolutely LOVE IT. People look at me like im crazy, so I was wondering if its just a car guy thing, or if I actually need to be medicated.rotfl

I'd say 50 is minimum maybe 45 if the other conditions are good. I hate it when people look at you when you have the top off in cold weather...people do realize cars have heaters right? :D

Seat heaters?

Has anybody added seat heaters? Looks like it would be fairly simple using aftermarket kits.

I live in Palm Springs, CA and almost never put the top up, summer or winter. (It has air conditioning??? Who cares?)

Gets cold at night in the winter and the heater doesn't do much with the top off.

This past November, top down, light snow, 32 f (0 celsius).

Today, 33 f, light snow! (As long as they are not spreading salt on the streets, its good to go)!

As long as you bundle up ... you can drive top down anytime!!! (Things would be different if the gf were in the car though)!!!

there is nothing like driving an alfa, in the snow, with the top down... you just need to dress for the occasion. motorcycle leather works well

When i was in college, we used to run TSD rallies in mid-winter in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, a couple of which were in sub zero weather. We ran a Meyers Manx copy dune buggy bodied VW with no top, sides, or doors. It was fitted with a Halda SpeedPilot but no heater (wouldn't have been of any use.) When we burned up the original 40 HP motor, we replaced it with a '63 Corvair Spyder turbo motor with a Crane Cam. We wore helmets to keep our heads warm and snomobile suits. Wish I could find a picture of it. Nowadays, I don't take the top off the Elise unless it's over 60...DAVe

...i draw the line at the mid twenties - not a poll option, though...no need for gloves; i just crank the heater and point both vents at my bare hands on the steering wheel...

first, I would like to say that it is a lot easier to drive with your jimmy out the roof than it is to drive with it out the window in an Elice.

secondly, the Lotus is just fine for me in any weather - no roof suits the car well. The worst part is the dust out here. 1 hour is enough to make any freshly washed vehicle look green with pollen.

Park the car out here without a roof and you'll find yourself regretting it when everything in your car is covered in dust/pollen

Above 50 is comfortable for me with just a jacket. I use 50 as my cutoff for driving without the top on because below that I would want start using gloves and maybe a hat.

Just thought I'd mention that my 50 degree cutoff is based on driving at an indicated 80 (actual 75) on the freeway with the windows up and the heater cranked. Staying below about 60, I would say I'm good down to about 45 or so.

The drive home from work tonight will be perfect, 55, dry cool air. This will probably be the last cool week of the year for me here in Florida, so Im going to take the back roads home.
