Buddy has a nice 09 S260 sport. Seems that fob battery is waning. Can't figure out any trick to get the fob open. He's pried as hard as he feels safe to do (pucker factor engaged)

Thanks, XHILR8N! for getting this topic started. My first post on Lotus Talk. Woo hoo. :coolnana:

So... the key fob acts like the battery is on the fritz, and I can't figure out how to get to the silly battery without breaking the fob.

Some would say RTFM, and when I do, all it references is the old style oval remote in the first pic.

I pulled the metal key part and got it to separate from the button portion. On the back of the button portion (pic 2) there is a little pry tab, but nothing will open or slide out.

What am I missing here??? :wallbang:

Thanks, RoadDad... problem solved!

I could see the little retaining tongue, but the harder I pried at the tab, the cover just started to dimple up. I just kept messing with it until it popped off.

Not a very good design IMO, but it's done. Would it be too much to ask to reference the proper remote in my manual? :nanner2:
