Do you really think so? I've driven the S2000 and ridden in the Celica, and I think it's the other way around. Of course neither is as consistent across the band as my GS-R was.LarryB said:As far as the S2000 goes, it's ~1000 lbs heavier the the Elise we'll be getting, very peaky motor with a 9k redline with very little torque. The toyota as it stands isn't nearly as peaky & with a bit of Lotus tuning not a big concern (for now, we'll have to wait for the real deal).
Same goes for having very little torque: Pot. Kettle. Black. And if you include the gearing and look at the axle torque, the S2000 is actually a lot closer to its competition than the flywheel torque spec would lead you to believe.
Nit pick all you want, but driving an S2000 is an intoxicating experience. I really hope that the experience of driving the Elise is as much better than the S2000 as you would expect from a car that's 2/3 the weight with 4/5 the power. We'll all have to wait and see how the Federal version turns out, eh?
It's sad to see people taking potshots at other models when the one this board is meant to discuss doesn't even exist yet.
