Sports and Specialist Cars will team-up with Lotus Cup USA and the Aston Martin Owners Club to conduct an HPDE day on Thunderbolt at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ on Thursday, October 18, 2012.

The event will include the Lotus Cup "Time Attack" challenge as well as beginner, intermediate and experienced run groups. For more information or to enter, contact Lotus Cup USA at Lotus Cup USA :: The Official Racing Series for Lotus Enthusiasts or Sports and Specialist Cars at 609-466-5305 / [email protected].

Non-Lotus cars will be accepted for everything other than the LotusCup USA Time Attack session. The cost is $300 for the day including lunch and access to instructors for classroom and in-car coaching.

I've been asked to push this event. So I will begin:

I went to last October's event and plan to go to this one (I hope to go at least once a year).

If you have never tracked your Lotus, you should do it at least once. Ya gotta do dis!

Learn what your car can do and learn what you can do!

It's an undescribeable experience.

More to come...........

I have never tracked with this group before so a couple of questions:
  • How crowded do the sessions get? I am not a fan of a conga line of cars swaying around a track trying to pass something really slow... I can always come into the pits and wait for a clear track section I suppose if it gets really bad.
  • Do they happily accept non-Lotus cars? Some groups do not like Caterhams (e.g. PCA and Audi)...probably jealousy! :D
  • Clearly I am not in the time attack class but what are the passing rules for intermediate or advanced?
Thanks in advance

Mike, you won't have any problems in the advanced run group :D Your Caterham is welcome (as well as any others). Like all DE events, point to passs. Come and play with us

Hi Glen - You just helped me connect your profile name to you! It is good to know that this group comes highly recommended by yourself. At least I know I will be faster than at least one Lotus! :p

By the way - nice move posting above the photo of yourself on the podium - smooth! :D

Does anyone know if we have to sign up through LotusCupUSA site to register for the Time Attack Session?

Noob questions

Never done one before, so whatever is below novice would apply.

I don't own a helmet. Can one be rented? Soft-top okay?

I was told that they will have some loaner helmets. As to the top - I am not sure. I have emailed Ed. However if you look at the top picture you will see one car with a soft top and one with no top :)

Thanks RBH! I'm definitely interested. I've wanted to go before, but always seem to have a conflict. My business is unpredictable - whose isn't? - but the cancellation policy that S&SC is providing is a strong inducement.
