I am leaving ForcedFed

After a 9 year relationship I will be leaving ForcedFed/Modacar. Due to poor economic conditions the company will be downsizing which calls for deleting the shop portion of the business. I am not sure where I will end up at the current moment, but I have been toying with the notion of opening my own shop. I will probably be at the shop until the end of the month, but after that I will still be available to perform some freelance work. It has been a pleasure being a part of this community and I hope to stay an active member of the Lotus world in the future. I would like to provide my customers with continued support after I leave Forcedfed, so if anyone needs to reach me my email is
[email protected].

Thanks
Casey Horner

Unfortionantly Casey brings up a good point. Expensive hobbies are not popular right now. Like 4-5 long time car magazines have even gone under in the last year. Like Sport Compact Car and Turbo :(

i dont (necessarily) agree with that... the issue is that the turbo/tuning business as matured... e.g. there is limited growth and a whole bunch of guys that provide turbo kits, systems and installation..

Its not like it was 5 years ago when forcefed was the first company to offer a turbo kit for the elise and it didnt matter if your motor blew up because you couldnt really go anywhere else. Now there are a number of different FI solutions available and a whole bunch of install shops to do them. The 'kit' format has marginalized alot of the old style install shops because there is limited or no fabrication required. In other words why bring it to a tuner shop when your local dealer will install your FI solution for you. This has happened across the board with almost every vehicle make.

Alas im not trying to beat anyone up, just telling it how it is. Fortunately I have a solution... Start looking at high end german cars: Mercedes, BMW, etc. Our mercedes business has been up this past year and shows no signs of stopping. The main reason is because our products integrate completely into the vehicle without any cutting or splicing. As far as tuning there are very few solutions available for MB and they are all very high priced. The market for full integrated solutions is wide open *if* you can offer up something high end and reliable: that would mean integrating into the vehicle data bus with factory connectors and not setting codes all the time.

Anyway, give that some thought... I believe there is quite a bit of money to be made for such solutions...

Casey, sorry to hear this. I say you move up to the northeast and start a independent shop! I'd be customer #1.
Good luck Casey...
Casey- remember meeting you way back when you were working on the test mule for the FF turbo packages. And several Lotus drives where you guys hosted us. As well as doing some work on my car. Sorry to hear things had gotten to this point. I've been in your shoes many times (and maybe again this fall). Good luck and use this as a opportunity to go independent or make the next step.
I'm just throwing this out here since I was looking at their site today after seeing them on Supercars Exposed last night. They're in Arizona and cover a few brands. I got some of my mods from them in 1999. Since they, looks like they've dabbled in the highend car sales business too.

Good Luck, keep in touch and I'm customer #2!
Alanyour shift cable is here...The retail portion of the shop will be closed after this week...what do you want me to do with the cable.
Best of luck! You will have a customer when you set up your own shop.

Now I still hope my car gets done by the end of the week ;)
Vale ForcedFed

Sorry to hear that Forcedfed will no longer be in the Lotus performance business.

From when I first got my 05 Elise, I followed the pioneering developments of Casey and ForcedFed in aftermarket performance enhancements for our cars. From the first Forced Induction solution, the first real and well made extractor exhaust , the first standalone ECU solution, the first custom built intercoolers and beautiful pipework, the first Laminova oil cooling system (now used by Lotus) – ForcedFed has lead the way.

The list goes on with a continuing line of innovative aftermarket performance bits for our cars.

The achievements of this company and particularly the innovative drive of Casey has made it a clear leader in the field, while most in the business seem to wait and see and then copy.

I am sure Casey that your ingenuity, design flair and engineering skills will soon open a new door.

I wish you the very best for the future, which I am sure will be bright.
