I finally replaced the CR2032 battery in each of my two Elise key fobs yesterday. With all the varying advice on LotusTalk, I thought it would be a big deal, but it wasn't.
About $2.99 for each battery bought retail.
Fob opens easily with a small screwdriver at a mark near the bottom of the fob.
Take out old battery.
Put in new battery.
If the fob doesn't work immediately (as mine didn't)...
Go up to car near the door.
Press and hold both buttons on the fob at the same time.
When the light goes out you're all set.
(This whole procedure is in your owners manual under "keys" if you have any other problems.)
By the way, the original batteries that came with the fobs lasted over 3 1/2 years and were still working when I replaced them.
