We bought this clean titled Exige and plan to turn it into a 211-like spyder. The chassis and powertrain are in great shape but every body panel was damaged - most beyond repair. We are still developing various ideas but my mind is going wild with ideas. What would you guys like to see us do with it?

Anyone interested in this project so you can direct us to create the car that you would like? If so, contact me.

I often wondered why Lotus never came up with a true roadster version, a 211 with a windshield, but not as weird as the 340

What happened to this poor car?
It rolled in a sand trap on track. A couple of wishbones were tweaked and replaced. The owner did not report it to insurance so the title is still clean.

We have a client who is joining us on this build. He has owned an Elise in the past and an Ariel Atom - so this car is going to be the love-child of those two. :D

We are calling it the 111RS Spyder. It will have all of our best bits to make it a canyon carver as opposed to a track-focused machine. This car will be designed with compliant grip and ground clearance for our rough roads!

I will post back as we make progress. Until then, here are some concept sketches of what we intend to build....

At least you're honestly representing it as what it is. I'm not sure I could call the title clean, given the condition of the car and the fact that the insurance company surely would have changed that (if given the chance).

That's the funny thing about titles. In no way will they represent 100% of what happens to all cars. If an owner chooses to not make a claim against their insurance, a car can never be totaled, no matter how bad it is wrecked (okay, some states may have alternative ways to brand a title).

It is always a buyer beware world out there.

This is so true. We are documenting the full build so everything will be transparent. It will be so far from stock that the value of the car will always be variable.

Funny strange, not funny ha ha. Again, the car is being honestly represented, which is more than you can say about many that are out there. The Exige S is the only used car I've purchased in over a decade. Even the cars I buy for my kids are new.

11yrs ago Sector111 team kicked off a Spyder project. We documented it fairly well: HERE Neil was a special kind of Lotus nut who wanted to build this and I was happy to help him! Neil drove it to LOG27 that summer in an epic trip that a bunch of us took to CO. Sadly it was t-boned the following year.

The memory of Neil's Spyder has stuck in my head all these years and this 111RS Spyder is a continuation of that idea. Ronin's Elise/Exige/211 (grey car below) was a car that went to a level that takes an even bigger commitment and mental disorder...:D Ours will be quite modest in comparison but takes inspiration from both cars. I hope to get Neil and Ronin to drive ours when it is done!

I have not updated this thread in some time. Though I have several updates in our Blog: HERE

We have been fixing the body and modifying it in-house. Our restoration specialist is an excellent bodyman with the eye of an artist. We added a rear Reverie flare that we cut short to reduce some of its 'bulkiness'. We extended the stock rear wing to create a 'Longtail'. I don't want to go to the extremes that Frank went to with his Lotus but wanted something that was still unique.

Some of you might be wondering why it has an Elise clam. We are switching the IC to a ProAlloy Chargecooler so the Elise rear clam was installed instead of the heavier Exige clam. I feel that it will give this Spyder a more svelte appearance as well and better fits with vibe of this type of car. Plus it better shows off the twin hoop that we custom fabricated for this car.

We still have several challenges that need to be resolved. One of which is the lighting at the front. We are shooting to unveil the car at the West Coast Lotus Meet this May 15th. The Lotus community provided a warm welcome back in 2007 at the LOG in Aspen when we brought the original S111 Spyder. I hope some of you will come and see this one...

We're making good progress on the 111RS Spyder. Our Blog has the latest updates but here are a couple of pix showing some of the progress. Our restoration man, Jesus, is really good with fiberglass so we have been adding quite a few custom features.
