Why DID I buy that car? Why?

A dose of a brand new ('08) Miata and brings doubt in my mind!
Wow it handles nice, they certainly increased the acceleration too.
Wow I can drive it anywhere and I don't have to worry about driveways,
parking, or leaving it alone where I can't see it. Hey, it's only a Miata.
Wow what a convertable top! Flick a lever and instantaneously its top down!
Wow the A/C and heater works, even beautifully with the top is down!
Wow I can hear the nice stereo, top down on the freeway!
Wow the wind is controlled and doesn't beat me up!
Wow I can have a conversation with the passenger without screaming.
Wow it's CHEAP (inexpensive), 19.5K optioned out, out of the door brand new!
Wow the Bilsteins and tuned suspension handles FLAT and very impressive!
Wow FOUR cup holders and plenty of room in the trunk.
Wow it's nice to drive it on a warm spring day.
Wow.

But then just one drive in the 'ol Elise and I know WHY I bought the Lotus.
Only us enthusiasts really know why. It's our secret.

Drive safe and enjoy!

I'm with ya on most of this.. but this one point is crazy talk. ;)
Yeah, the "bilsteins and tuned suspension" cannot touch a properly set up Miata suspension, but it seems a bit better than stock. Fine for Terry (my wife) driving to work and back. I'm enjoying it too.

But Lotus handling and acceleration is quite different!

Many "chicks' would say the Lotus is "cute", that they would love to drive it every day...

The Miata is just a very nice car that works well all around after years of tweaking. It's gained weight for all that tweaking too.

The Lotus is for the motorcycle lover in all of us.

I miss my Lotus very much. :(

Oh please. Don't start us on the "Chick Car" stuff.:protfl

But FOUR CUP HOLDERS??? One on the door digs in my left knee. Annoying.

Otherwise a great sports car! I like it!

We know the Lotus strengths and weaknesses too.

Geezer: what's the story about the Bilstein and tuned suspension?
Better or worse compared to stock? I've had pros and cons on this.

Hard to say - It seems that the "sport tuned" suspension actually has softer springs, but my time in the two stock options is limited. Neither the stock nor the stock/sport shock package is appropriate for the track, but both are very fine for the street.

Of course, my Ohlins set up is superior to both ;)
