The problem is this - the emissions sticker over our engine says "1.8L N/A". A supercharger is not "N/A".
Almost every shop will catch this, unless you find one willing to overlook it, and that's not free.
Furthermore, ECU maps send a hash called the "calibration verification number" as part of your OBD-II scan. This tells the state you are modded, but they're not using this to go after people yet, just collecting it.
They are actually starting to nail people for not having a valid cvn. What happens is that they pass you for that test but the next time you get a smog it will be a state ref smog. You won't know immediately that they got you.
