Is my car on the water?

Im wondering, any ideas from your dealer on when/if they'll be able to give us our VIN's and tell us when our car is on the water and or delivery dates?

I figure my car is only 4 weeks away, when I spoke with Clyde he said that they will have VIN numbers etc for each car so Im hoping the dealers will know soon.

I could, of course, just call LOA, but its early and I'm bored and was curious if anyone had heard anything regarding this.

Having the VIN and an estimated arrival would be nice for many reasons. I really doubt the dealer would wait until the car is in the parking lot to call us? Seems like they'd be able to give us a heads up for those of us who need to take time off from work and need to arrange airfare etc. Buying a plane ticket for the week of usually costs far more than if you buy a month out.

if your car is headed for the east coast it only takes 10-14 days on the water to get from England to the U.S.
Aty,
Lotus people told me 3 weeks or so total from UK to US east coast which includes time at both ports.

So wouldnt that mean that our cars, at least yours and mine chris, are proabably built already and pretty close to being shipped, if not already?

I would ganter to state that your car (and mine) should be water bound SOON. I spoke to my dealer yesterday who told me he would contact me 2 weeks before they recieve my car. So I would think the same would apply to you. However, calling LCU could save you a few $'s in air fare and other things if the dealer waits to teh last min...

true, time at the port will add 2-3 days on both ends (plus time getting to the port--not sure how long it will take to get from Lotus to the port)

I just know from ordering a BMW and a MINI in the last couple of years that the time on the water is 10-14 days.

With those cars I even knew the name of the boat my cars were on! And the day they left and arrived at port!

atyclb I was hoping lotus would operate similiarly. A friend ordered a Volvo S60R and knew what boat it was on and had daily updates on it from the time it left the port to the time it arrived.

Adam, I may do that. Last minute airfare is usually a fortune. My father has a show to attend in ATL the second week in June and offered to give us a ride down in the Van he rents....I may end up doing that.
Jenn,
Think it's a good bet that the very early customer cars are already built and awaiting shipment. But just my opinion

sure, sounds like fun!

what general part of SA is the new house in?

(North, South, East, West)?
A VIN would be nice to have ahead of time.
This car is indeed supernatural, but I don't think it can "drive on water". ;) I did find an Elise converted into an airplane, so I guess you can fly in it.

How about hiring a private investigator in the UK to monitor construction and shipping...posting updates and "spy photos" on Elisetalk?

Omaha, NE, eh? I wasn't sure anyone else around here knew what an Elise was! ;)

Don't have one on order yet? Why not??

looks like they just haven't gotten to his # yet
I hope the first of the customer cars are on the water, because after what my dealer told me the other day I'm beginning to think that #15 might not get me a car before July after all :(

it's still early. Well, that's my excuse, at least.

I have a deposit and am on a list, but my order hasn't been placed yet. My order is supposed to go in with the next batch, once the factory requests it.

Will there be 2 Elise's in Omaha, then? ;)

Fantastic!

I sure hope so... ;) I'm #18 with Autostrada down in Austin. Saffron w/ LSS and nothing else. :D

Where did you put your deposit down at? I had one with Downtown Jaguar, but moved halfway up the ranks by moving to Autostrada.

There's a very slight possibility that there could be a Lotus dealer in store for Omaha. Having at least 2 Elise's in town might push it a little further. :D
