hi guys/gals, new here.

I am hosting a meet in colorado on the weekend of july 11th, and would like to extend an invitation to you folks. There is going to be isuzus and (hopefully) lotus, and other extensions of isuzu that are going to attend.

There are a ton of things for me to go over with how the isuzu is in the same "family" as isuzu, and i don't have time to go over it all yet, but will update this post when i get home.

Right now it's just a feeler thread to see if anybody in colorado or near, or not near, would possibly be interested in a car show dedicated to our cars.

Any thoughts or questions?

i'll check on this thread tonight when i get home from work!

thanks!

:huh::huh:

i dont know what to say.....
The M100 Elan used an Isuzu turbo-charged engine, which was also used in the Impulse. That Impulse had a suspension tuned by Lotus. I think some previous Isuzu models also had Lotus tuned suspension. I imagine those are the ties he is speaking of.

Dont get too excited, the Hyundai Scoupe also had a Lotus tuned suspension, rotfl

correct, the m100 is tied to the isuzu impulse, isuzu imark, and isuzu stylus. (they did stuff for the scoupe??) The M100 got the motor and in exchange isuzu got lotus tuned suspension. yeah, they're not as popular or as hot looking as the exige and the like, but hey, what can i say? :)

either way, like i said, it's just a feeler thread.

if you have interest, cool, if not, cool. all i can do is ask, right? :)

let me know if you have any questions.

thanks!

p.s. anybody here from colorado?

Lotus has done a lot of chassis and suspension stuff for numerous companies, even Hyundai. They actually had a hand in the new Nissan GTR development.

As far as Isuzus, the Impulse was a awesome little car, especially in the RS AWD form. Every so often you run across one that is in prestine condition, and has some extra horsepower under the hood. A friend of a friend in college used to terrorize the street racing community in Oregon with one.

well, there will be a good handful of the Impulse RS at the meet, most of which have a lot of mods done.

i own one myself and it's still being built. hopefully, if all goes well, i'll have HOPEFULLY 300 AWHP.

we'll see though, hehe

maybe i should try and talk to some folks in the elan section :)

m100 are fun, i had one - very fun car, especially when the wastegate sticks..... intersting technology - i believe it was the first car to use the "elise" like body composite technology. except for the stupid camaro like steering wheel and the slightly over boosted power steering - otherwise very nice - i belive someone in the UK is now making bolt in roll bars for them as well.

that's pretty cool to hear.

now it's just a matter of getting aftermarket support for my car too. things get expensive if you have to get everything custom made.

wow it's hard enough to get together lotus elan M100's, but i'd imagine (non-truck) isuzu's is even harder.

i used to have an Impulse RS turbo back in my youth. that was a fun car, and pretty practical too. in white, waaay before the ipods. and a rare sight compared to all the Mustang LX 5.0's that littered the school parking lot, along with nirvana and 90210. god, that was 18 years ago

...despite the lack of respect it commands in some lotus quarters, i wouldn't mind having an M100 in my stable at all - cool little runabout...

I really like my m100 a lot, its a blast to drive, i did change the steering wheel though :)

i've got about 75,000 on mine, its offline at the moment, mainly due to its age and need to change some of the hoses and what not, but i sure do miss driving it.

i dunno, on the grand lotus scale, i think the M100's get more respect than some of the 70's Eclats and Elites.

reliable isuzu engine and sophisticated body and suspension. what's not to like? other than FWD i suppose ;)

Only a few 100 of the elans are left. Parts are like hens teeth to find. IIRC Dave Bean was trying to source/xref some of the ball joints without much success. Some of the parts that are available are very expensive such as the OE injectors.

i dunno, if you owned an M100, it was sort of a "collectible" from the get go so people seemed to look after them. as where with the run of the mill impulse/stylus/i-marks, they just kept changing hands and eventually driven into the ground. something tells me finding an isuzu car in decent shape is almost as hard as finding an M100 these days.

anyone remember this ambitious little car they made? they specifically name lotus in the ad too :panic:
