Im soeaking strictly about the valence part of it...upper rear end looks great...it looks like there should be quad exhaust tips but there are just open areas there now and they place the tips in the middle which looks out of place...arent the exhaust tips placed laterally on euro elises???

It's just you!;)

The euro s2s have the exhaust on the outside edges. The 111R and US car have two exiting out the bottom of the diffuser. Actually looks pretty good in person.

Also, of note, the exhaust on the S1 elise exited out in the center above the diffuser.

Well, the S2 was indeed designed to have the exhaust come out the sides. I wish we had the old exhaust too, but it really doesnt look that bad in person. Believe me, I was surprised, because I too am an advocate for the original exhaust layout.

Kinda reminds me of the bumper laws back int he 70s. Cars in europe were designed with beautiful fenders and bumpers, then the US DOT required full bumpers, and all the once pretty euro cars had these awful looking bumpers on them that were not designed with the car.

i like the central exhausts now. it kind of cleans up the grill. they'll look better once you install the stage 1 exhaust.

most of the Euros hate the looks of the fed exhaust
Hate may be too strong a word, but I feel that the central exhaust lacks character and would much prefer the twin lateral pipes. Not that big a deal, though.

The side reflectors are not a good thing, but again a minor annoyance. May be less of an issue when we see them on more and more cars.

I think a lot of the Euro reaction was to it being different than what it was and like many reactions to the new Elise, most complaints have simmered way down.

For me, I don't really care. I am inside the car. :)

As a few have mention it's not something you or a bystander will really notice. From close up photos the size and quality of the tips aren't for show. Then again that's what the after market is for. ;)

its not that i think the the actual exhaust tips look bad...its the openings laterally that look bad to me cause there is an open space and it is very obvious something was supposed to be there...will the stage I or II exhaust help cause that has double pronged exhaust tips also does it not(ie-needs to be centrally placed also)?...will st. I or II be able to placed out laterally so we can fill up that open space???

Not sure are you talking about the black perforated metal that the older rover motor exhaust tip extended from? If so no, with the Toyota motor the stage1 and 2 exhaust will not change the tip exit point.

"I believe they saved weight by having the tips exit the diffuser. The plumbing is very simple as a result. "

I am surprised that some brilliant Lotus engineer did not design a combination cat converter/muffler using that rectangular space available, and drop the exhaust pipe down directly into it, rather than stay with separate cat and muffler with that U-shaped pipe sticking out the side.

Not sure what you mean by openings?
