Just in case you missed it ...

FONTANA, CA …July 14, 2004…The KUMHO ECSTA V710 competition tire is back on the market following a three month hiatus. KUMHO voluntarily discontinued sales of the V710 in April and all tires were pulled from the market by KUMHO after the company discovered some inconsistent test results relating to tread splice and tread area durability.

Consumers who purchased a set of V710s received a replacement set of either ECSTA V700s or Victoracers free of charge, as well as a certificate for a set of modified V710s when they returned to the market.

“Our number one priority is safety, and we are committed to supplying our customers with the highest quality and best performing tires that are available anywhere in the world,” said brand manager Rick Brennan. “With this philosophy in mind, KUMHO took immediate action in discontinuing the sale of the ECSTA V710.”

KUMHO conducted an investigation into the cause of the testing inconsistencies and made modifications to the product and production methods to ensure these inconsistencies do not re-occur.

“The modified V710 did well in on-track testing,” said Rudy Consolacion, motorsports manager for KUMHO Tire USA. “The tire is consistent and fast. The V710 had won several races and set numerous track records since its introduction on January 1, and we expect the modified V710 to also do well.”

The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has declared the V710 legal for SCCA Club Racing and Solo competition, effective immediately.

The V710 is currently available in seven sizes and will be available in 17 sizes later this summer.
