Last phase of delivery (shipper) question.

I heard that the shipper has 72 hours to pick up the Elise after the dealer has been invoiced. Is that just pickup time or does that include delivery?

Also, do shippers drive through the holidays? For example, if a shipper is 48 hours from home, will he drive through Thanksgiving? Will he just stop and vacation at a hotel somewhere?

The dealer was invoiced for my BRP on Friday and I'm counting the minutes. Also, if the car doesn't get PDI'ed today, it would be PDI until Monday. :wallbang:

Allan, I am in a similar situation. My car was invoiced on Monday. But then it is sent to the prep center in National City. The truckers has 72hrs to pick it up. I'd doubt they work on Thanksgiving. Once it gets to the prep center it takes about 2 days. Then it is delivered to your dealer.

I'm hoping to see mine by the end of next week.
Shinoo, I'm curious about how that works.

My understanding is that the dealership is invoiced after the car is on the transporter from Pasha (Natl City?) to the dealership.

Are you saying it's invoiced before it even gets to prep?

I've had my VIN for two months, and the car has been built and floated over here, but it hasn't been invoiced. I have no more fingernails to bite.

Similar situation here. Mine got to port on 10/30 and I have the VIN. Dealer said that he got the invoice only the day before the last 3 cars were delivered, and that it normally takes 3 weeks from port to him.
There has been some variation, but I understand that the cars are invoiced when they get put on a truck to the dealer.
Thanks all. In my case, the car when to Port, then to Processing. It was ready to leave Processing last Friday and at which point the dealer was invoiced.

I spoke to the owner of Scottsdale Lotus, as Dan is on a well deserved vacation. He said will be meeting the shipper this coming Friday at 8:00 p.m. That's a one week time frame from Processing to dealer.

Unfortunately, their service techs are off till Monday, which is the soonest the car can be PDI. I can't pick the car up on Monday as I have night classes (for an MBA) so, Tuesday is the soonest I can pickup the car. That means, I have 5 more nights of insomnia. :(

Also, I didn't bother to get my VIN until I received the sales contract. But now that the paper work's done, my VIN is 516.
