Please explain. You mean because you are getting another $4,000.00 back? Do you have an '05 Elise to qualify? The pricing will not be out until Novemebr. The 240 hp Exige S will probably be more than we all thought since they will continue with the 220 HP Exige S for '08.
hmmm..220 hp exige+$6000 for the performance pack..[240hp+the goodies]-the $4000....for being a ..:evil:=$2000
£1000
thus...£1000 for the extra...cup roof,240hp,variable t/c,l/c,ap brakes......

warranty issues mostly, some are stock queens, various reasons.

this would be the only year i probably won't upgrade i'm pretty happy with my S at 235RWHP the only thing i plan to add is the bigger brakes, i'd like the mohawk too, but thats not a deal breaker.

I doubt you'd see a 250RWHP elise for the road with the 2zz-ge.
why not charlie? the forcefed exige S (same engine as elise) is getting 250 rwhp.. why cant the elise do that as well?

Couldn't you get the same gains that you get with the exige s with a SC elise? I am just wondering if we should be able to do a tune on a SC elise and get 235rwhp as well? Is it just going to be a matter of cracking the ecu?

the key part is 'for the road', the forcedfed kit isn't street legal, none of them are so far.

Yes, the only difference is the intercooler, the S has protection with a temperature sensor that pulls timing etc when its gets too hot. Presumably the elise sc version will have that too, otherwise if it didn't its a higher running risk.

I've been reliably informed the new ecu will be a lot harder to crack, i'm also not sure if i'm going to continue doing it after this current model ( sigh of relief from lotus ;) ), but then again i always liked a challenge.

I'm also not sure if this model coming is the new ecu revision or if its the one thats late 08, since the federal requirements are different for the OBD II systems, however they could be applied to the current revision of the T4E ecu easily enough.

And I already did get the same or better gains with the 06 SC elise :)

street legal? hmm I really don't know what that means... for instance how would you ever be penalized for having a modified car?

all my cars are tuned, one is 40hp more the other 100hp over stock.. you can't tell..

how would you run into trouble with this? street legal? I'm confused by this..

CARB approval, if you were caught, they'd make you take the bits off and return it to stock, take it away from you and either auction it off, or put it in the crushinator. If you needed to sell it some states require a smog inspection too. And of course Lotus can't sell it for the street if its not approved.

There was a modified S1 Exige that was threatened with the crusher, or leave the country, i believe it left.

ahh, well both my cars pass smog tests.. looking at forcefed's mods it really doesn't seem like it voilates the smog test either (chip, header etc.) all fairly minor stuff..

Here in Cali, we're forced to smog our cars like every other year. -and even forced to smog 'em before we can sell them.
and adding a SC might affect the smog results.
I'm sure some people have figured ways around it.
But some of us just wanna keep things legit and trouble free.

If the Sector111 kit gets CARB approved it will be worth it. Screw drivetrain warranties.

Why won't Lotus just upgrade the Exige and have one single Exige and one lesser Elise? Do they think there is money in selling a regular Elise, S/C Elise, regular S and 240 S?

Seems to me that some would opt for the S/C Elise, but who would opt for the Exige S?

I see your point. I was hell bent on an Exige S, But now my first choice is going to be the SC elise, than the 240 S, I doubt I would even consider an exige s at this point. But that is just me.

So all you guys with an S model Exige, I don't think it will be devalued as much now since the 240 will definetely be a significant price increase (maybe around $5 to $6K is my estimate).

I bet you're close on the price differential for the 240 HP package over the 220HP Exige S....it may even be more than $6K.

What some are forgetting is that extra $5-6K dollars in MSRP for the 240Exige will get you the big brake kit, extended roof, HD clutch and perhaps a few other performance items. The cost for the big brake kit and roof will exceed $6K if you tried to purchase those items from the dealer/factory after delivery.

I also heard from a reliable source that there will be a factory s/c kit offered for retrofit as a dealer installed option and the factory warranty will remain in effect. We'll see.

I'm also assuming the '08 Elise S/C will have an intercooler -- that would definitely be a plus.

Looks like Frank added the temp sensor to his s/c arrangement -- check out the sensor on his charge cooler....;)

That is incorrect since you get $3,000 off for the '08 220 HP Exige S. So let me redo your calculation:

220 HP Exige - $3000.00 ('08 220 HP Exige discount) + $6000.00 for the performance pack - $4000.00 ('08 240 HP Exige discount) = $5,000.00 or £2500!

Frank's valve & sparkplug covers look great! Never thought of a black valve cover...

wow, $6k would be too much for me. I'm glad I got the 07, the final price would probably be almost 80k!
