Glad you posted this - i think its a fascinating story thats been way underreported here, prob bc the guy's French, or because the sports networks blessed us with 266 hours of NASCAR coverage this weekend. Woo-hoo!

I really dont see how he's gonna make it in one piece but it'll be amazing to find out.

So it looks like his plans fizzled. The balloon floated off without him in some sort of abort plan this morning. Still totally unsure of what happened, but he won't be flying today. A shame, really, because this seems to be a pretty damn cool experiment. I'm sure Red Bull or Virgin would be on this like a fat guy on a Budweiser if he needed extra funding for a backup balloon.
