In the past, I mentioned ACS Corp* was the leasing company I had originally planned on using. Recently, they advised me their lender would not be doing Elise lease and referred me to Putnam** Leasing.

Unfortunately, the quotes from Putnam don't sound promising. This is straight from the e-mail Putnam sent to me and ACS Corp

Hi Allan,
We received your application last week. Thank you. I was not available, so it went to one of my salespeople that pulled it off our site. The person [Referring to another Elise applicant] had great credit, but was not happy with the monthly payment given. The vehicle has a poor residual, which pushes up the monthly payment. We think he went finance.
Thanks again,
Steven Posner
So, either lenders are not leasing the Elise, or offering leases (opened ended) with payments equal to or greater than finance payments. I'll probably be relying on my credit union.

I'm wondering if Elise lease are really being based on the Espirit.

I went to my dealer yesterday. They called that they had an elise available from a person on the list that was not going to take it I was next on the list and they gave me the opportunity to buy it.

Unfortunately I have not sold my other car and this was unexpected so I had to pass:( :( :(

well I ran the numbers with the sales rep and the payment on the lease was almost $200 higher than the financed rate.

The calculation was a 36 month lease for $49,000 and a 60 month finance at 5.5%

The salesperson said the residuals are horrible nd that is the reason for the lease rate. so I should be receiving my car in late December and I will definetly be financing.

Drive off: $2,886.73
Purchase price at end of lease: $24,000
Monthly payment: $947 plus 7.8% tax

48 MONTH LEASE
Purchase Price: $48,600.
Drive off: $2,625.86
Purchase price at end of lease: $20,000.
Monthly payment: $826.00

Also, all of the leases were opened end so the risk levels to the lenders is small. I wonder if anyone will be doing close end leases in the future.
