I think that MAYBE if they had somes of these, they could get their act together and let all of the customers and dealers know what the heck is going on with their cars.

I got the call from my salesperson about 3 weeks ago. She said the factory wanted to finalize my order and wanted to know if I wanted Startshield.

Since then, she can't get any updates on the car.

I feel like their inventory and ordering system has something to do with chisled stone tablets and delivery by chariots.

I'll pitch in, but here is my suggestion.

<img src="http://sln.fi.edu/franklin/inventor/images/oldphone.jpg">

I'm still amazed NOBODY knows what is going on with a car that has a NOVEMBER BUILD date.

VIN, port ETA? Crazy talk!

I don't need a bloody RSS feed with real-time stats.

How about picking up a phone and telling LOA what is going on?

OIIIII!!!

Lotus has these tools already and knows how to use them. There are people who keep track of little details like build dates, shipping dates, VINs, invoicing, etc.

The problem is us. We think that we are entitled to know all of this stuff, but Lotus doesn't agree. The dealers already have sold us our cars, so they don't have any incentive to be forthcoming with little tidbits of information. The only times that they need to contact the customer is to spec the order and to arrange for delivery. The rest is useless handholding and most don't see the need to waste time on that.

This is the picture that I've built over the past two years of waiting. It seems unnecessary to put us through all this, as the judicious use of e-mail would make it quite easy to provide periodic updates. But Lotus is a poor, small, struggling company ... yada ... yada ... yada. So please make allowances.

In the end, your car will arrive when it gets here. Having more or less communication will not alter that fact.

What are they going to do with the phone or computer ?
Go to their website, try and find an email address or a telephone number.

Hi Steve-

I have a VIN, the ship arrived in Long Beach around Nov 14th, but no phone call yet to come get it. I circled December 10th on my calendar when I first heard the arrival date, but I may have been a tad optimistic. I was pretty relaxed for a couple of weeks, but now I'm getting testy again from the wait. Spotting an orange Elise in my neighborhood after Thanksgiving isn't helping any.

For those keeping score, I placed my deposit in mid-Jan 2003 at Symbolic of Beverly Hills. I believe that Shinoo's boat came in about a week ahead of mine, so I'm hoping for a call any day now.

Saffron Yellow, touring, hardtop, Starshield.

By the way, you are showing remarkable patience, Steve. I'm amazed that you haven't closed a deal on one of the many cars that seem to be turning up for sale. When are you projecting to get your car through the "normal" process?

Can't find a car that matches any of the three spec sets I would like.

I called Tim at Steve Harris where I've ordered. He said January build. If true would mean March delivery. I told him what my three specs were and suggested he call me if anyone in SLC turns down a car in those specs because of snow. I'll take it.

Silver Star where I've also ordered says "some time next summer"

SouthBay BMW not calling about accepting deposits yet, not calling me anyway.

I've talked to: Lotus Atlanta, Fox Valley, HRM, Maplecrest, Ascot
I've told them what I'm looking for. I've had four cars offered but all too far off my desired specs.

I expect the phone to ring eventually.

Looks like my car may have been on the same boat as yours, as I also have an in port date of Nov 14th. Vincent Golde at British Motor Cars in San Francisco called me last Sat (Dec 4th) and told me that, as of his latest update, my car was not yet in San Diego for processing. He mentioned that he had another Elise in port on Nov 8th and that car was now in processing. He reasoned he would have my car a week after that car is delivered to his dealership, so I should expect to pick my car up "just before Christmas".

Nothing in page one diagram brings Lotus to mind except the colors.

Bah. The very shape of that diagram is a flower.... as is a "Lotus"

I see lots of similarities.

What do they say about not killing the messenger? Thanks for the info, but I was hoping for a Hanukah present, not a Xmas present.

I feel your pain, my friend. I felt the same way when Vincent said it all to me.
