Here are the mod's I have found that I will be doing pretty much as soon as I get my Elise (current non-owner and learning TONS from this forum!)

1) Convex side view mirrors to increase visibility
2) S.C. - either Charlie X's new one, Sector111's Katana, or BWR's
3) Rear Windshield clear plastic sheeting to protect from stray rocks/body torsion
4) A few cosmetic mods in the cabin
5) Rear view Camera system
6) Front license plate holder from BWR
7) Maybe TurboPhil's new Tilting Clam mod... That looks pretty awesome but I want to see how solid it is long term.
8) Driving lessons to "mod" ME!!!

Any others suggested to either increase safety, convenience or just enjoyment?

What Mods can you just not live without???

Turn off the re-arming of the immobilizer and pull the antenna wire out of the loom to increase the remote range substantially.

Disable daytime running lamps.
It's so easy. (short version: remove from left speaker, find green wire with connector under it, unplug the connector, for detailed examples use search).

Yup and also two long strips of velcro so you can drive around without the soft top flying around in your trunk!

This is going to sound self serving as I sell them.....but it really is true.

After driving the car this weekend on a LOONY breakfast, I think the last mod I did, the Sachs adjustable coil overs and having the car corner weighted is the one thing I would not give back.

I have a base car and the the difference is so amazing. Now I know what it feels like to REALLY have to trust the car and ignore your senses.

For me it was revelation.

I guess next would be HIDs

"Must" have? I can only think of four:
  • Go to a racing school
  • Better Tires
  • Lighter weight and better quality battery
  • Remove front camber shims

as tsunami racer says, the cupholder.
also the auxillary power outler, the spare cloth wiper, the bubble gum,
the fix-a-flat with viagra (adds to the firmness of the tire).
considering a foxtail and kangaroo bars......rotfl

Actually owning a Lotus

Yes, that is the intention.

But I have to pay off my Audi RS4 before I can purchase a second "fun" car. That will take about a year or so. In the meantime, I have found it invalueable to learn as much as possible so when the time comes, I don't waste time and money on unneccesary things and can quickly make the car as safe and enjoyable as possible.

It's a pain that I have to wait, but it makes sense to me to take advantage of my time and learn as much as possible. Isn't chatting about the cars and learning part of the hobby?
