I knew at the end of last season that it was time to tear down my Lotus.
I was burning oil and Coolant and figured my turbo seals were done.
Engine pulled strong but it was smoky and smelly towards the end of the year.
I pulled the front and rear clams and shipped her off to my friends home garage
on April 5.

While we had it apart it was time to do some upgrades. I bought a set of 2 pot AP Racing calipers for the rear, BOE mounts. We cleaned up the fronts and painted both to match cause....why not? EBC yellow stuff brake pads all around (and they color match, go figure). Great chat with EBC about pads. I had exceeded the braking capacity of the car last year and figured this was the time for an upgrade.

Got the turbo pout and tore it down.....yup, it was cooked.
We figure it sucked in a bunch of dust in the passenger air inlet and let the turbo chew on it.
I got lucky. It didn't get into the engine but this turbo was done. I had a spare I'd bought a while ago
so we refreshed the seals and put this one in.

While the turbo was being cleaned up we mounted the race sills I'd picked up from GRP.
Greg is a great vendor and has quality product.

Byron's home shop is getting busy so we're pushing to get finished.
One bump in the build on the brakes. We had bled the rear parking brakes but
on the first test drive they locked up. I had read about this. If brake fluid is left in the rears and you cap them the fluid will expand and apply the brakes. YUP. I locked up on the test run. Loosed the nipple and they release. Something to keep in mind.
