I can't answer, but egads 175s in front...

Fun fact: the lower wheels (w 195 fronts) were originally used on european Exige's, and were brought into the US on some early 05 sport pack elises because of a LSS wheel shortage. They are heavier than normal LSS wheels

Indeed. Just a bit lighter than the standard wheels (although don't know about the new 12 spoke wheels), but considerably heavier than LSS. Lotus knocked off $500 off the price of the sport pack if you got the LSS with these wheels.

I've got 205's on the front and 245's on the back.

Here they are in black:

Oops sorry, before the "sport package" was named, people on these boards refered to it as LSS (lotus sport suspension) but is really our name for the sport package which includes the wheels/tires

An official answer directly from Lotus reveals the following:

2008 Elise SC wheel & tire specs:

(see: 2008 Lotus Elise and Exige - Autoblog)

• Cast Alloy 12-Spoke Wheels in Silver Finish
• Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 LTS Sports Tires
• Front Wheels: 6J x 16 - 175/50R16 (A120G0048): 7.9 kg
• Rear Wheels: 8J x 17 - 225/45R17 (A120G0049): 10.8 kg
Total weight: 18.70 kg / 41.23 lbs

2008 Limited California Special Edition wheel & tire specs:

(see: 2008 Lotus Elise and Exige - Autoblog)

• Cast Alloy 16-Spoke Wheels in Silver Finish
• Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 LTS Sports Tires
• Front Wheels: 5.5J x 16 - 175/50R 16 (A122G0007): 8.8 kg
• Rear Wheels: 7.5J x 17 - 225/45R 17 (A122G0008): 9.4 kg
Total weight: 18.20 kg / 40.12 lbs

Weight difference: 0.50 kg / 1.10 lbs

In summary, the Cast Alloy 12-Spoke Wheels are 1.10 lbs heavier than the Cast Alloy 16-Spoke Wheels!

Something is wrong with your sizes, part numbers, and weights. I don't know what size front wheel is on the California model but do you really think that if the front was 2" narrower and 1" smaller in diameter than the rear (according to your numbers) there would only be a 1.32 lb. weight difference. Your part numbers only have 9 characters instead of 10. I have the black 8 split spoke ROW Exige wheels parts no. A122G0007H and A122G0008H. On a scale at FedEx the front weighed 17.55 lbs. and the rear weighed 20.7 lbs. bare. Bare means without tire, weights, valve stem, and center cap. Not without paint. And they are the normal LSS sizes, 6.5 X 16 front and 7.5 X 17 rear. I don't care what lotus says they weigh I saw it with my lyin' eyes.

Bruce - thanks for the response! You make a good point.

An updated official answer directly from Lotus (that includes recent weighing) reveals the following:

2008 Elise SC wheel specs:

(see: 2008 Lotus Elise and Exige - Autoblog)

• Cast Alloy 12-Spoke Wheels in Silver Finish
Front: A120G0048F (6.0J x 16) - 8.14 kg / 17.95 lbs
Rear: A120G0049F (8.0J x 17) - 10.90 kg / 24.03 lbs
• Total weight: 19.04 kg / 41.98 lbs

2008 Limited California Special Edition wheel & tire specs:

(see: 2008 Lotus Elise and Exige - Autoblog)

• Cast Alloy 16-Spoke Wheels in Silver Finish
Front: A122G0007H (6.5J x 16) - 7.98 kg / 17.59 lbs
Rear: A122G0008H (7.5J x 17) - 10.04 kg / 22.13 lbs
• Total weight: 18.02 kg / 39.72 lbs

Weight difference: 2 x (1.02 kg / 2.26 lbs) = 2.04 kg / 4.52 lbs

In summary, a complete set of 12-Spoke wheels are 4.5 lbs heavier than a complete set of 16-Spoke wheels!

NOTE:
• these are "bare weight" i.e. no tire, weights, valve stem or center cap.
• the "F" or "H" suffix is used when ordering parts.
