I'm being honored Father of the Year through American Diabetes Association for San Antonio and part of my duties is to raise $$. I am having the first annual "Drive for Diabetes" on Saturday, May 24 at 10:30am. We meet at Gonzaba Autoplex, drive children with juvenile diabetes through town(mostly freeways) with road blocks and police escorts and head back to the dealership to have lunch with Police Chief Mcmanus and a Lotus Car Show immediately following lunch. This is going to be huge with over two hundred people to spectate and plenty of media coverage, plus we get to "haul butt" through town! Cars.com, carfax, BG products are sponsors as well as others. All I ask from you guys is your time and your shiny Lotus, no $$. Who's in?? Send me a message or call my cell at 210.685.0297.

This sounds like a good time for a good cause. I am booked already. If that changes, I'll definitely give you a call.

I'm north of Dallas, but would consider driving down to do something like that.

One question: What is the usual age/size of these children?

Well, anywhere from adult small to child medium for Tee-shirts. The children ages vary from 9 years old to 14 years old.
Thank you for asking.

i may have missed something but what about this whole disclaimer by Lotus: "dont let children in car". Not trying to be overly-legal but it gave me pause. Are thie kids going in the Lotuses?

Thanks charlie, I hope you can make it as well.
The drive is completely organized with police escorts and will be completely safe.
Lotus does know about the drive and my rep is excited about it.

You are more than welcome to join us! This event is going to be a blast. The "buz" is going around and other car groups want to join but I'm limiting this just to Lotus owners.

I'll see what I have going on around that date as I'm going to be driving up from Brownsville (graduating the 28th, so not sure what's going on with anything that may end up being related to that), but I'll definitely try to make it out there. So you might be able to count me in with 1 Storm Ti Elise.

You guys are looking for the "negativity" of the event.
Open your thoughts and your hearts and look for the "goodness" of the event. I have the Police Chief Of San Antonio involved, as well as other major figures in the city. It's a well planned drive approved by the city of San Antonio, The American Diabetes Association is excited about the drive,Lotus Cars USA is excited as well, the route is well planned with police escorts, many major sponsors...
You guys are missing the idea!
We are raising money for the American Diabetes Association; by driving kids with juvenile diabetes in a designated route with police escorts, well planned..
What better way to raise money for the cause than driving kids with juvenile diabetes in cars that they only dream of??

Think beyond the complications...
My complications are; this is snow balling with tons of press coverage and other "car groups" and businesses who want part.
Goodness... This is the first annual drive.....
THIS IS GOING TO BE HUGE!! For everyone!
Especially Lotus! Since I'm limiting this event (1st annual) to Lotus owners only.
So! Lets not forget!
This drive is simply to give children with juvenile diabetes a chance to ride in a car that they only dream of...
And my sponsors to donate discretionary funds, or donations to the American Diabetes Association.
Bottom line is put smiles on childrens faces for a good cause.....
