Hello all,
I replaced the original points distributor in my Lotus Eclat with a new Pertronix electronic distributor, and could not get the engine to start. I also installed a new Pertronix ignition coil. Pertronix offers great tech support over the phone, and provided me with a number of troubleshooting tips.
Today I finally got the engine to start, however it runs for about 30 seconds and then it dies. When I try to start it again, it turns for 2-4 seconds and it dies. In order for it to start, I had to disconnect the 2 wires that run to the negative terminal on the ignition coil. I tried rotating the distributor slightly in both directions but this doesn't fix the issue.
The 2 wires I disconnected are white/black and white/slate. I traced the white/black wire and it's not actually connected anywhere. Should it be?
The white/slate is more difficult to trace, and I can't tell where it goes.
I would appreciate if anyone could offer me some help... on what to try next.
