This car was in the parking lot outside the Lotus factory last week. I saw one post on Lotus Talk from 2007 referencing this car, but no pictures or direct info. I'd never seen nor heard of this car so I did a little research. As a "special" one-off car, I was surprised to see it still apparently being used as someone's transportation.

- the "E" stands for Ethanol
- the car started as a stock Exige S
- 265 was for the horsepower
- top speed 158 mph, 0-60 3.9 seconds
- it was used as part of Lotus' 60th anniversary celebration
- four enlarged fuel injectors were fitted for normal driving conditions
- two additional injectors were fitted at the supercharger inlet for higher engine speeds/loads
- the engine management system needed to be recalibrated
- the creation was a design exercise and never saw production

Cheers,
Severin

Awesome! I've always wanted to see more of the development and modifications done to this car. They made a 270E as well!

I remember seeing that one and then later on there was a tri-fuel white version, in a few magazines.
I think Lotus' experimenting days are over. They're just lucky to remain operational with the line up they have....which isn't much.
I've seen a few auctions where manufacturers put up their concepts on the block for bidding at certain auctions, to get rid of them and to help recoup the hefty cost that it takes to build them.
