But be sure to get the ultra lightweight variety so as not to weigh down the Elise on the track, oh and don't stop at McDonalds either, forego the Big Mac for better lap times! ;)

Take a close look at the Track Day tech. form, it states that an on board extinguisher is optional. At the link to Barber it states that a extinguisher in the pit of each participant is mandatory. It looks like you will need one in your pit but not on board.
It is always a good idea to have one on board that can be reached without unbuckling the harnesses.

I'm running at Road America in July with the Porsche club and they require a fire extinguisher in the car the driver can reach while in the seat.

Just ordered a remote activated SPA AFFF system for the Esprit so I don't lose any foot room in the cabin.
