HI All,
Just back from the Lotus Ltd. Southeast chapter meeting. This was to coordinate for the LOG 24 to be held in Birmingham in Sept.

Clyde of LCU was kind enough to spend his day off and opened the LCU facility. He pulled the yellow elise showcar out and parked in front so that's what everyone saw when they pulled up. Probably all told about 30 or so people were there. Arnie was unable to attend so couldn't pump him for the latest info!

Met mopolok (SP?) and James from the list. ALso, Eric Gregory and his wife Ginger and son Carter were there to represent Lotus of Atlanta who are sponsoring part of the LOG! Also there from Lotus UK were Andy and Lauren Plant, I believe Andy is involved with Warranty and Lauren is involved with parts.

Zack Zarcadoolas was there to give an update on his debut race in the Grand Am cup race to be held just before the 24hrs of Daytona this weekend coming up. Zack will be racing an Esprit. He also brought along David Murry who now drives for Porsche and will be in the 24 hours of Daytona. David drove with the Lotusport team in the early 90s with Doc Bundy.

NOTE TO COM: I think I counted 4 chrome orange 2004 esprits. One was being loaded on a Horseless Carriage transport headed north. It really is great color on the esprit.

Those of you who ordered Saffron will be very pleased, in sunlight the color is gorgeous.

Well I think thats about all I have to say. James and Mopolak might have something to add as I admittedly missed most of the meeting.

Quite a nice visit today. The yellow, red and racing green cars from the LA auto show were there. Only the yellow was available for pictures. I snapped a bunch, but don't have anywhere to make them available to the world. What is a good free picture posting site?

I now know that I have to have British Racing Green. It is so handsome in person. And of course the biscuit interior. Ardent Red, being a nonmetallic color, look a little flat in low lighting.

Here are some other notes that I recall:

The power windows are not one touch up or down. Have to hold them manually.

Clyde said that stripes would probably be an option next year.

That's all for now...

HI Mo,
Yes you can attach photos, just try to reduce the resolution to less than a 100,000 bytes or so to be phone modem friendly.

I took lots of pictures of the yellow one. I'll try to post them tomorrow. I also got a shot of the chrome orange esprit as it was being loaded on the truck. I'll post that too.

Clyde was very kind to give us the access he did. Great customer service.

Yep, I hope everyone getting an elise knows how lucky we are to have guys like Arnie and Clyde at LCU. If not for their hard work and dedication, LCU would've folded and the elise would never have come here. A great bunch and it's been my pleasure to know them for a number of years.

Jack,
Sorry I didn't get to meet you today.

I second Chris' observation about Saffron Yellow in the sun light, it is beautiful. The other thing I noticed was the total lack of orange peel on the paint job, it is one of the smoothest paint jobs I have seen. Now that I have seen the side reflectors I'm OK with them, not thrilled, but OK with them.
There was also one of the Lotus factory engineers there, but I don't recall his name do you Chris?
Also drooled over the Exige and Elise Sport in the office area of LCU!
It was fantastic of LCU to host our meeting and open up their facilities on a Saturday for us!
Three cheers for Arnie and Clyde!
Oh, David Murry who came by our meeting was thrid at Daytona last year!

Here are the pictures I took yesterday. These show what the yellow looks like in sunlight. I really like it.

I also included a shot of the Chrome Orange Esprit being loaded on the truck so you could see what that color looks like in sunlight.

Chris, sorry I didn't get to meet you yesterday. The Lotus club seems like a great bunch of folks. Since I don't currently own a Lotus, I'm not sure that it would be appropriate for me to join.

It was also great for me to see the two Europas parked outside. I used to own a Europa John Player Special. Wonderful car. I may own another Europa again.

James,
The chap from Lotus UK was Andy Plant, quite interesting to talk to. He's apparently got a very wide range of experience working for Lotus cars, I think from the assembly line all the way through. He also spent time at Ketteringham Hall for the Lotus Service Center which typically services all the factory Lotus and became specialists in servicing customer 340rs.

HI Jack,
I haven't rejoined Lotus Ltd as yet but I do plan to attend the LOG as I'll have my car by then, fingers crossed.

Chris:

That chrome orange Esprit is headed to the St. Louis Lotus dealer Behlmann Mid-Rivers Lotus. Great color which should look wonderful on the Elsie as well.

I'm coming to Atlanta February 20th to spend a day, February 21st, with Zac at Road Atlanta learning how to drive my Esprit. I'm hopefully hooking up with Brian Skeoc, David Scmid and the rest of the Atlanta gang for dinner on the 20th. Hope to see you!

Mark Pfeffer

PS: Rejoin Lotus Ltd. as it saves you $$$$ for LOG regiostration!
