Coca-Cola returns with 'burn' and Lotus | Planet F1 | Formula One Teams | LOTUS

Rumours of Coca-Colas joining Formula One have been making the rounds for the last few weeks.

However, while many expected the deal would be with McLaren, the company announced on Friday that it was with Lotus.

"We're honoured to announce that we have joined the Lotus F1 team and are set to enter the world of F1 racing," a statement on the Burn website said.

"The Lotus team is the number one emerging challenger in the sport and has demonstrated exceptional creativity in their approach to F1.

"We [intend] to foster that creativity by incorporating art and music in a way that will break the conventions of traditional F1 sponsorship."

Lotus team boss Eric Boullier welcomed the multi-year sponsorship by "burn" which is an energy brand.

"We are proud that The Coca-Cola Company has chosen Lotus F1 Team as the best vehicle to represent the burn brand in its most high profile partnership," he said.

"We are excited to partner with burn to build a new and innovative model for sponsorships that will combine experiences, content creation and social media ; an area in which our team has been at the cutting edge in Formula 1 for the past 18 months, recording the highest growth rate amongst fans this year."

This seems to be great for Lotus - or is this the other Lotus. I sorta don't care, if Lotus' name is on the car and they have a top dollar sponsor like Coke that would be great!

Doesn't Coca Cola make Red Bull?
I don't think so. I know they started as their own entity in Thailand. I actually have a bottle with Thai writing on it. That's not to say Coca Cola doesn't have a stake in it now, but I couldn't find anything with a quick search.
