Just ran across this picture from an article about the BBC show Top Gear:

Never seen an Excel with a "007" plate...much less "slammed" (lowered).

Anybody know what the two black bars on the windscreen are for? Camera mount?

For that matter, the little ailerons on the rear quarters...

I think they actually made a submarine car with this one. The ailerons on the rear are for dive, and the black bars are nascar-style windshield reinforcement to keep the windshield from caving underwater

That is correct, they made an actual working submarine car complete with underwater footage. It may be found on the DVD Top Gear 50 Years of Bond Cars. I found my copy at Wal-Mart.

Interesting DVD.

Saw this listing for BBCA @ 10PM here.

Flint, about an hour outside Detroit proper, used to have a huge underground racing scene from what I hear. There was some mid-engined truck featured in a magazine at one point. And on the US Top Gear, Tim Allen talked about how they'd race muscle cars then tell their parents (who typically worked for the Big Three) what cars were winning. Should be an interesting feature!
