It's also available as an option (from Lotus Sport) for the plain Exige. That's the main reason why I never quite believed that it made the car handle worse, like some people claim they heard from Lotus. Or that it wasn't needed. I don't think they would be offering it as an option for their flagship car it it didn't do anything good.

Hold on. Before you get carried away with your disgruntlement.

Is any Exige equipped with our Elise's Yamaha/Toyota drivetrain, or are they equipped with the Rover or another Euro standards drivetrain? The Exige LSD may not be compatible with the Fed Elise for a number of reasons I can think of.

S2 Exige does have the same powertrain as the Fed car/111R which makes the deletion all the more puzzling.

Yes, same drivetrain. From all the information I saw, it also seems to have a suspension setup that is identical to our Elise with Sport Pack (aka LSS).

It's only different in that it has a LSD in it.

The complaint I've heard about the LSD in the Elise is that the car gets twitchy at hgih speeds. This may be less of an issue in the Exige because of the extra downforce, or it may be becasue the "track" version of the Exige has adjustable shocks, and they can tune around it. Or maybe they jumped the gun and put it on the option list before they figured out they couldn't make it work.

Unless we get a definitve answer from Nick Adams or ony Shute, we're all just guessing.
