Hi All, who insures your Lotus in the GTA, how much coverage do you have and what should it cost me. Have 1 quote so far for $2500 a year. Seems a bit stiff to me. Any info appreciated. If this conversation has already happened can you direct me to the thread?

Thanks, Roger.

I paid around $500 per year, I'm 29 years old with comprehensive coverage through American Collectors. You have to prove that you have another DD car, which I do and I'd bet most Lotus owners do too. And you can't drive the car over 5000 miles a year, and living in the midwest, the car sits for 4 months a year, so that limit wasn't a problem for me. Call them and check it out, if it fits your situation.

GTA is a whole different ball of wax... We have the privledge of living in probably the most expensive area of the continent to insure a car, much of which stems from the lack of crackdown of the blatent fraud that's going on (staged accidents, staged injuries, etc.).

Even my Prius is now over $2k on a perfectly clean driving record, and same with the Highlander Hybrid that we have. A difference in postal code (M3B to L3T, just 6km away) resulted in over a 25% jump.

Ditto here.. I was their first customer and provided the documentation to start their coverage for the Lotus. They have been great

Hmm.. I got a web quote at about $450 / yr, stated value full coverage. Then, I got a quote via email at $550. Then, when calling, they said that if I would be driving it to work ever (even well under their annual limit, AND having a two other DD's), I would need the freedom plus plan, $850. Not liking them too much, and I am a USAA member. The same coverage is available for me through american modern for $569 / yr.

Anyone using American collectors get around this?

Not sure what the Elise alone costs. Insurance for my house, 06 flat bed trailer, 05 Elise, 05 Jetta, 98 Dodge 2500, and 2 98 Jeep ZJs runs me about 175/month

I'm currently in the market for a Elise. I have Nationwide for my car and they wont cover a Lotus, I have progressive with my motorcycles and a 2005 Elise would only be 27$ a month for the min full coverage... I'm only 24 but I have zero points on my license. Grundy would have only been 24x$ a year but I'm not 25 :(

Didn't Grundy stop doing collector policies unless you have multiple collectors? I used to have Grundy but they switched everything up and I couldn't insure anymore with them. I now use Barrett Jackson. I think I'm around 750 a year for the Evora. I pay more in insurance for my 10 year old Bimmer. And with that said I am now going to start looking at new quotes for the Bimmer.

Not sure. I was shopping around for quotes earlier and they claimed if I were 25 that would be the amount. I have a few months to go. But under 30$ a month with progressive.. I can't complain
