Never liked any of the towhook options for my car, so I made this:

First: Here's it towing a Mack Granite Dump Truck

Towhook removed, with just clevis installed

About 1/4" clearance to clam

Just when you think there is something that cannot be improved upon .... the notion is proved wrong. Nice hook. Simple AND original.

For tow hook just to get out of the track - the design was ok.
I will not trust using it when hauling and putting at the flat bed.
The ring pivot design giving too much pressure in the bolt & the thread.

If the tow truck is pulling square to the face of the car it should be fine. Otherwise, should have no considerable advantage or disadvantage vs any other design (when tested against the stock hook, the stock hook actually bent out of shape holding a 1 ton wrecking ball).
