For the suspension and track gurus out there.

I just bought a set of Khumo V70a / V700 (205/45 front and 245/40 rear). However the dealer were sold out of medium compound for the front and rear, so I opted for medium front and hard compound on the rear.

I've started to get second thoughts, so question is if anyone has any experience with this, or if not recommended to mix compounds?

My rationale was that going from 195->205 up front is less than 225->245 for the rear, so the increased lateral grip up front would somewhat be compensated with the increased width on the rears...

Any thoughts?

With Elige, I would go softer on the rear, to the point where wear would be untolerable.

Also, going to wider tires without wider wheels (or the right sized wheels) will actually have a very detrimental effect on traction, especially with race tires.

So why would you go softer on the rear for the Lotus? With standard setup (before adjusting camber) the car would under steer a bit imo.

Also, why do you mean that wider tires will have detrimental effect on traction? (btw. min are 8" for rear)
