More than 1 deposit

Who here has more than 1 deposit put down at 2 different dealerships. Is your intention to drop off the other list when the other dealership gets to your number first? Or are you planning to buy more than 1.

I have deposits at 2 dealers, #28 and #37. The intention was to buy the first available MSRP car and take back the other deposit. That may still be what happens. IF when the cars start arriving it looks like a 2 year wait to get one, and a large resale mark up, I may buy them both. Keep both or sell one ? Over my driving years I have always in hindsight wished I had purchased two or more of every nice car. You could drain it of fluids and cover it on blocks in the garage. If the first year Elise becomes a classic wouldn't it be nice in 2020 to pull out a zero miles 2005 Elise ? I may sell my spot in line for the second one without buying the car. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

I know my dealer is not allowing people to sell their spots. I am thinking about jumping on a 2nd list cause I don't want to wait till late fall to get mine. But it would have to be within a 4 hour driving distance from PA.
Right now, we have fully refundable deposits, so you can be on as many lists as you want and your finances allow.

Could be wrong, but I expect at some point in the next couple of months we will be asked to place an actual order specifying our color and options choices. At that time, I would guess that you are committed (i.e., deposit becomes non-refundable). That would make it hard to maintain your position on more than one list unless you plan to buy more than one car.

As far as selling your spot on the waiting list goes, you probably would need the cooperation of the dealership. It sounds like some dealers plan to use any spots that open up from people who drop off to extract a premium from eager buyers, so they wouldn't have much incentive to let you sell your spot to someone else.

Then there is the ugly reality of speculators. As I said before, I was offered the #2 spot at a dealership if I wanted to fork out $5000-7000 for it (no thanks!!).
I have number #5 and number #12 at Lotus of Atlanta.

Are you buying them both Jenn?
Not sure, I would like to and thats what I had planned on, however at the moment Im still up in the air on the second one. Im thinking of buying a new house and or/opening a european Indoor karting track as a business venture so I dont know where all my cash is going or what my interests may be in at the time of purchase order for the second one.
I think you should move to SLC first :D
I'd love to, it looks very pretty.

I sold a black 3rd gen RX7 to a guy in SLC. Lovely car, fully built, cage etc. I think he autocrosss it. Picked it up here and drove it cross country back to SLC.
I'm giving one of my 2 deposits to my dad...I just wanted to tell him thanks for being a good dad (and also making up for the lack of b-day, holiday gifts from previous years from being a poor college student).

Of course, he's getting the car that comes in second ;)

Since I'm an extremely generous person, I'd be willing to exchange your number 12 for my much later number at LOA. You know, just so you can have more time to think about if you want it or not. :D
