More good news on the Esprit I bought this year. Turns out I don't really know what oil was in the car or how many miles was on that oil because I thought Viking changed the oil, but there is no sign of it on the receipt.

So there may be more miles on this oil than I listed, and the fact that the used oil tested thicker than what I guessed was 5W-30 is no surprise.

In any case, I feel even better about my engine now.

I'll continue to send in a sample with every oil change because it only gets more expensive the longer it takes to identify a problem with these engines.

What lead you to suspect the oil was M1 5W-30? I thought the V8 spec'd a thicker oil.

Well, uum, OK,

I was once wrist-slapped on the TurboEsprit forum for suggesting a V8 owner use 0W-40. Seems most owners and dealers use Xw-50 in the V8.

Now you can use that manual section to beat those obstinate V8 owners.
