I have an '06 Elise with about 10k on it. I bought it used last year. My factory warranty expires in May I believe. I've brought it to Lotus a few times for warranty servicing, and I think I am up do date on the TSBs, but is there anything else I should have checked out before the warranty expires and I have to pay for service visits?

Check High Lift Cam lobes for unusual wear?

This is very minor, but I recently discovered mine is missing the fix for the 'AM-Radio static while Breaking' problem.

Also make sure the A/C is working, maybe even pay to have the pressure checked. Not sure if the '06s have problems, but quite a few '05s had various AC leaks that aren't inexpensive to repair.

GOOD ADVICE BASED ON MY OWN EXPERIENCE:

Take it in and have them check your brake pads.

While the wheels are off ask them to check every single suspension part they can see, and tighten as needed. If broken, replace under warranty.

I did this recently. What it does is give you the knowledge that DESPITE all the noise that comes from your suspension as it gets older, everything is tight and correct.

ALSO have them check the steering box.

And, have them check your exhaust and make sure it is on tight with no holes and not hitting anything on the car.

With less than a thousand miles left on my warranty, I took my car to a reputable independent Lotus shop. I asked them how much they could check for two hours of straight labor and was told that would be enough for a pretty comprehensive look-around--something like a pre-purchase inspection. They also informed me of the potential camshaft problems and let me decide if the additional labor to inspect the cams was worth it to me. They found a couple things that need attention but the biggest benefit was my peace-of-mind.

BTW, the shop I used was Dietsch Werks (Santa Clara, California). I am very satisfied with their talent, knowledge, and professionalism, and I would recommend them to any Lotus owner.
