This is a view looking into the front driver's side wheel well. In my hand is a mystery wire that's cut off and is quite heavy gauge where it comes out of the vehicle part line and then becomes a very light gauge before terminating in a cut and stripped end. There's a tag on it that reads, "signal element." All of my lights, signals, etc, up front work fine. Does anyone know what this wire does?

I believe that’s the radio antenna. Mine was located running down the similar area. Just tuck it back up towards the front.

if you remove the plastic inner fender liner the antenna usually is glued/taped up against the upper clam shell.
the antenna wire end is not bare like your photo shows. it has a molded plastic tip.

the alarm siren is located up front on the driverside. might be part of that.
