Hi guys-

Just bought an '05 Elise and I want to have it thoroughly gone through in prep for an upcoming HPDE.

I'm looking at 2 places, South Bay Autohaus and VSA Motorsports.

Does anyone know them and can make a recommendation?

Thanks!

I've never used the above car services but hear good things about them.

Your third alternative if you choose:

Contact Harry (Harix) on this forum, he's a really nice/humble guy, car enthusiast, owns and tracks an Elise, and a certified master mechanic who owns A1 Automotive Service in San Gabriel:

Welcome to A1 Automotive Service - Automotive - Service Stations in San Gabriel, CA 91776

A lot us, LA and OC folks, bring our cars to Harry for friendly, expert services with very reasonable prices. You can search for him/his services on this forum. Good luck.

I have found VSA to be the most knowledgeable and honest shop around. Their work is VERY high quality and they stand behind it. In my opinion for anything other than an oil change, especially anything performance related VSA is the best choice.

+1 For Harry at A1 Automotive. I took my Elise and Exige to him for the last 4 years and he's been nothing but great!

Another vote for VSA .... they especially understand "tracked Loti" and their required preparation. ;)

I can't comment on A1 however you can't go wrong with either Qais at South bay Autohaus (former master tech at South Bay Lotus) and Allen at VSA

I've been dealing with Qais at South Bay Autohaus for about 18 months now and they are great. They can get a little backed up, but it's always worth the wait. Very honest and trustworthy guy.

Echoing Andy here. In 2+ years of ownership Harry is the only one that touches my car.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I'm down in the south bay area, so San Gabriel is a little bit of a haul...SB Autohaus is very convenient but from the reviews I've seen he seems like more of a general mechanic with a Lotus background, while VSA is farther away but he's definitely a specialist with tons of racing experience. Decision, decisions!

I've never been to A1, just VSA for mechanical work (before they were VSA and since). I also have Julio at Mulholland Motor Sports do all my body work.

They have done brakes (full BBK w/ front clam removal), fuel pump, injectors, ECU reflash, VF supercharger install, exhaust, oil pan, alignment, and all other general maintenance on my Exige. Swing by and talk to Qais if you're local. He's pretty much always there and willing to talk.
