Need help understanding interior

I looked at a 2012 IPS amethyst grey today with all the option including suede interior, heated seats, coding mirrors, etc.... . The car is a 2+0 with 500 miles and never privately owned ... dealership show car. Because my father knows the owner, I can get the car for $55k

It was not my first choice of colors, but does look good.

1) Sound like a good deal?
2) Is it hard to add rear seats if I so chose later?
3) I am not a fan of the suede on the part of the dash facing the interior ... can that be change easily?

wow, excellent price...if i wouldn't have just bought mine (and paid much more for it) i would be all over that. I am glad personally not to have the back seat, I specifically looked for a car without seats....they're useless. The shelf back is handy. Good luck with your decision...i think it's a great deal!! lucky you..

Amethyst Gray is a unique color-it really changes hues dramatically depending on lighting. I like it but it is a personal item, like all the Lotus colors (which definitely influences pricing on individual cars heavily.)

Deal sounds quite good.

It wouldn't be time or cost effective, as the rear roll bar on 2+0 cars does not come with the seat belt attachment points the 2+2 car does. It is easier to make a 2+2 a 2+0, but the other way around is certainly possible with money, just not reasonable.

It can easily be changed, but the OE panels aren't cheap. It would be cheaper to haev an upholstery shop redo it for you (but you'll pay a premium for genuine leather) but remember that stripe of microsuede wraps onto the doors and also has two strips in the backseat/luggage area of the car as the line continues back.

Yes I notice the door, seats, and the center console ... those do not really bother me ... but the dash and dash crash pad in suede just seems a bit weird.

I have been looking for a 2+2 ... but after sitting in the rear seats ... they really are useless ... I mean really what was lotus thinking ... a do to think a midget could sit in them.

for children i guess:shrug: but if i had kids, i certainly would not stick them in the back of the evora...it just doesn't look and feel like what i think of as a "family car"...it's a sports car....for two people and a weekender bag! ha
That color was in my top two color choices, i couldn't find one in IPS in the amethyst...it's stunning and unique. What color is the interior?

The back seats in the Evora and similar sports cars are commonly referred to as Insurance Seats. Depending on the insurance company, having those back seats make it a "family car" and can have lower rates. I've had someone in the backseat on two or three occasions out of necessity. Small adults really only fit if they're sitting sideways.

I have also seen a few car seats in the back of others' Evoras though.

I think that price is great. Once you drive it, you probably won't care about the suede anymore, but even if you do pay to change it out, I think you'll still be ahead at that price.

If you don't have young kids, go for it. I used my rear seats frequently for my 6 year old but for adults, you can do it but they won't be comfortable. Great for emergencies but in that case, you can do the same with the 2+0.

Suede dashboards came about on race cars and high end sports cars as a way to cut down reflective light.
