My never ending Lotus projects are almost complete.

Now I need help installing my HID lights. The dealer doesn't encourage this so they won't do it. I'm looking for someone who's done it successfully before and is confident and comfortable doing it again. I've got the lights and the car, you've got the tools and the know how. I can do pizza and drinks as a thank you. I work 4 blocks from home so am available pretty much any time.

Thanks in advance.

I just did this and it's pretty easy. One question should I tie the cables up so that they cannot touch the lightbulb housing? Just concerned that I did not do this and the heat could melt the wires causing me a problem.

Thanks

Very easy install. I did mine in about 1.5 hours. Call me if you'd like my help.

You have an '05, right? The 05 circuitry is actually better suited for HID's then the '06, because it does not have daytime running lights. The issue that my lights have is that they come on when you start the motor, with massive current draw to both the car's starter and the igniters. As a result, when my car starts, sometimes only 1 light turns on. I've learned to overcome this by turning on my headlights and letting them warm up for 15 seconds before starting the car. In the '05, you don't need to worry about it.

Andrei - let me know next time you're in SF. Unfortunately my schedule is such that I can't get out of the city these days.

I might still do something this Saturday if I end up going to SVAG with my friend. Could swing by and do the install real quick.

My HID's should be here on Thursday/Friday. I've never put HID's in a Lotus before, but after reading up on it, the install doesn't look too hard at all. I'll probably put mine in Friday/Saturday and, if all goes well, I can drop by and install your as well.

I installed my HID's about a year ago but I was lazy when I was leveling them so the right light is slightly higher then the left .... any advice on a quick fix to make them match ?? =)
No quick fix... you have to take the headlight cover back off.

Why doesn't the dealer recommend this? They draw less amperage once they're fired up and many of us have had them installed for years/thousands of miles with no issues.

I could have helped last week but I'm back in AZ now... sorry. It's fairly straight forward but I wouldn't recommend it to someone that isn't comfortable working on a car.
