New battery hold down feeler

Hello. After seeing several customers come in with clam damage from their stock or replacement stock battery coming loose from its hold down, I decided it was time to make a solution for people who dont want to use a Braille battery and want to keep the stock one in place.

What i have come up with is a nice looking, light weight, aluminium battery hold down. My hold down uses the stock mount bolt holes, so no cutting or drilling is required, straps over the top of the battery, and is adjustable to accomodate for several different batteries. The battery cover does not fit with this hold down in place.

If there is enough interest i am going to be selling this on my own, not through the dealership, so i need several people interested to keep cost down. Cost is projected to be in the $50 range plus $10 shipping within the U.S.. Please be completely honest if you like it or if you dont, and feel free to ask any questions you may have, i will answer them to the best of my ability.

I think that is a nice looking piece, and would give people who track their cars some peace of mind.:up:

Possible dumb question ahead:...............................

...... There's no risk of anything with the battery being exposed. I'm just imagining the random loose stuff I may have in the trunk hitting the battery constantly.

If you have random loose stuff banging around in your trunk, you probably have greater odds of it damaging the clam with a "bullseye" then you do of it damaging the battery.

You may want to look into picking up a sector111 trunk "booty"

exactly what i was thinking. Rico, call John if you want a trunk bootie. they are nice pieces.

It's a good idea, I like it, but the price seems a tad high considering the materials. I'd probably buy one anyway.

My concern would be the exposed battery terminals, which being in the trunk where there is a distinct possibility of something metallic shorting them out, the result could be catastrophic. A very secure insulated positive terminal cover would address this issue.

Lotus puts a red cover over the positive terminal from the factory.

I cant see the pics because I am working late. But imho a more secure clamp is a great idea, I am shocked at how bad the factory one is. I think there are severa ways to cost effectivley make a better design. I intended to fab one up for myself but would definately consider buying one if priced in the 35-50$ range....

I still have all the drawings and the company to make these, but to keep the price around $45 i would need 12 orders, so i havent pressed the idea. sorry i am just a tech without much cash, so i cant just pre-order and sit on the cash. Thanks for the positive feedback though.
