Hi LotusTalk -
I picked up my "new" black 2007 Lotus Exige S this past weekend. It was a demo car at Lotus of Atlanta for a while, and I'm technically the first owner of the car. Some of you might have seen it before with graphics on it; I had them removed and the car returned to stock as it's more my taste.
This will be my second/weekend/track car which I plan to use around the tracks in the southeast. My previous track car (and now retired from that duty) is a 2001 Audi S4; I had heavily modified the car to work well on the track, with such things as Bilstein coil-overs, StopTech brakes, AWE/GIAC Stage 3, and dedicated track tires. Here are some pictures from a trip up to Mid-Ohio last year:
If I'm honest, it wasn't 3 months ago that I was ready to squeeze the trigger on a Porsche. The Porsches I drove were very much like my Audi; refined, powerful, and overall great German cars. But like my Audi, they cost a fortune to maintain and prep for track events. So I went and drove the Exige and it instantly moved to the top of my list. I bought the car because I know it'll be great on the track and (relatively) cheap to run (I love the fact I filled it up for $16).
So my first few mods for the Exige will be a 5-point harness, a possible swap to race pads, and whatever I can find to keep the car running cool. I hope to attend 2-3 events this spring, including LOG.
