Oh, from what I have read on this site I will probley get pounded for owning one!! I don't understand what the hipe is about this car, If you like it you like it, if you don't, you don't. Some people eat meat (me) and some people like greens!!! The car is nice and having a car that only 50 were made is nice, want see another on that often. As for the wheels, I would have to say many were spot on when saing they needed to be another color. As for the price, I looked at a 06 Elise with 11,000mi for the same price I paid for mime and have looked at many over what I paid for it. I flew up to look at it and drive it and fell in love. So it should be here on Wen. of next week. (shipping it) Anyway new here and looking forward to talking to everyone.

I think the reason that most people didnt like them when they first came out was because it was a 6-7k premium and you didnt get any more performance out of it, all you got where 3 different colors of gold thrown together and called a limited edition... I dont think you will get pounded for owning one now...Lotus has repeated this with other special editions and we are used to it now...

Welcome and enjoy!!

Welcome to LotusTalk!

There's several 72D owners on here and we love 'em. The wheels are I think the biggest thing people don't like, but once you see them in person they grow on you quickly.

Did you pick up the one for sale in OR? Where will its new home be?

No pounding from me. I love that edition and would have brought one if available when I purchased.

IMHO - keep it stock and keep it a long time. Will be ultimately worth more than some of the modified abominations kicking around.

I replaced the stock wheels on my 72D with some gold Rota Slipstreams mainly because they are cheap and not expensive to replace should I damage one beyond repair on the crappy streets full of potholes and whatever else here in Houston. Still, I have had numerous people tell me how much better looking they are than the stock wheels. Blackwatch Racing has a couple of sets advertised for $549.00.

No I bought it out of Ms. It, I think was a car won from a casino in N.O. La. The car has 1300mi on it now and has not been titled in the owners name. His brother ownes a Ford Lot in Ms. and is saling it for him. the car came from up north at a dealer somewhere. They are getting all the paper work and helmet for me and I should have the cat by Wen of this comming week. I will not have time to have any fun with it though, because i leave out for work in Mexico on the 30th and will not be home until the 5th of May.

Thanks for the info on the wheels, I will look into it. I was thinking of changing them out with a set of Axxis Racing that are black with gold, Look good from the pics I have seen.

No I think that one is still for sale. I contacted a guy that won one in Vagus and found this one the next day. A friend in Tx told me about it and where it was. He also has a 05 Black Elise,(the friend in Tx) thought about getting it, but he wanted to much (he really doesn't want to sale it)

Looks good. Are those the org. tires or did you buy more? What was the total of the rims and tires? I have to take the one I just bought to a Lotus shop for the 1000mi service and might come to Houston, just to get a set.

Okay, I paid more the wheels because they were not on sale like now for $549.00. A student of mine works for Discount Tire and got the tires for $850.00 TTL drive out price. The problem was, that for whatever reason, Discount was not able to get the tires when I needed them. So, I had to order a set from Tire Rack Online and paid extra to have them heat cycled. I ended up paying a litltle over a $1,000 with shipping charges. My suggestion is that you don't hesitate and order the wheels from Blackwatch racing since they only have a couple of sets left. Hey, a set of wheels of $549.00 plus a few extra bucks for shipping is a deal!. As for tires, here's the trick. My student could order you a set, but it took him forever to get them. I suggest you order from Tire Rack and you will get a similar price. If you are going to track the car, they can heat cycle the tires for an extra $15.00 a tire.

Thanks for the info, when my car gets here I will look into contacting the wheel co. As for tire rack, I have a account with them and get my tires a wholesale, so I will check with them also. Thanks for all the info.

Hope you had a good time in Mexico! As for me I always have to go there to work and it is not that FUN!!!
