Hi guys,

Just took delivery of titanium 111r with touring pack (black leather) in Sydney Australia.

Having a great time (although roof is a pain compared with previous car - S2000).

Surprisingly supple ride

Great acceleration even below vtec (probably because of weight)

1) Don't trade it with shay2nak's expected Graphite Grey!. You've chosen the best colour!:D
2) Take your time to read my messages about my first impressions on 111R. We'll be more than happy to read you personal review of the car, and make our comparisons.

3) Elise is not a car, she's an Elise ;) , so don't compare her with other cars, even in trivial roof terms.
4) Elise has rituals , or methods to follow and drills to pass in order to open the Lotus Gates of Heaven. One is to get in and out with the roof up in a single smooth move; ask me how I do it with XXL size and 6'4" (No, I don't have a QR wheel! :D).
Another is to take the roof on and off quickly even 2-3 times a day and feel like you're simply closing your doors :D. I've also been given a totem to , haven't you already? :D
5) The acceleration you feel is definitely because of weight and you'll be surprised in the future of how fast you'll be able to drive, and still feel within your limits, since I bet Elise's are well above. You will also redefine very soon terms like steering, grip, braking power and distance, but also get acquainted with mid-engine setup. The sooner you both get in track, the better you'll feel the difference...
6) Once you'll run in your engine properly, you'll be given the key to the (VV)TLi world. S2K's VTEC's feeling and sound is just a nice noise compared to the kick you feel at your back with the 111R and the Ferrari-like orchestra you have behind you! I'm already looking forward to fitting the Level 2 Sport Exhaust, which is not only considerably lighter than stock but its sound rocks too :D.
btw, have you noticed that Elise sounds at idle, or close to idle speed, like having a boxer engine (see Porsche)? They've really done a magnificent sound engineering job with this car...

Once more, congratulations for your perfect choice. Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do, and always take your camera with you!. You see, this forum is fed with pictures!!!...

Hi theob,

how much longer until you fully break-in your engine? I'm asking because when you're able to fully rev the car to 8000 RPM or higher, if you can do so in the first 4 or 5 gears (if your speed is not too high) to record the maximum speed you are able to drive in each gear.

Most of us have been speculating how fast we can go in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th.

Here's the old thread: http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2097&highlight=max

thanks a lot!

I've completed run-in :D. I've already put 3300km (>2000miles) on my 111R.

I've managed to have some very quick blats around Athens, but didn't record any specific data. However, FYI I've managed to see 240km with the roof down . I saw about 225km on [email protected] I think and floored it a bit more just to see tha gauge passing the 240km mark, before hard braking.

Should I be able to floor it again soon :D, I'll try to write down my speed in various gears.

BR,

Theo

rear diffuser with central pipes - I think they look a little lame (111s set up is a lot cooler)

It will be, once we start getting them. They redid the dash, plastic only. Speaker moved to the top of the dash and vents moved to the face.

suit,
nice pics, congrats. Yokos are only standard on the US cars far as I know, it's contractual and why everyone else has bridgestones I believe.

The air vents are also relocated on the US car away from windshield.

supercharged S2k vs Elise 111r

this was the first real drive for me in the new car (bought a demo with 2000km).

first impressions:
- ride was surprisingly supple. I also testdrove the 111s and significant shutter was evident over bumps
- low down acceleration brilliant compared to standard S2k (although embarassing compared to friend's supercharged S2k). very easy to drive around town given in-gear acceleration
- handling is inifinitely better then S2k - great feedback, soooo flat around corners, not at all tail happy even with weight distribution
- love exhaust note, even when cruising at 3000rpm, there is a pornstar drone that is not too intrusive

- roof is an absolute bugger. S2k was 6 seconds (seriously) versus 2 minutes with the elise! a little discouraging for top-down motoring. need you guys in the US to come up with a simpler aftermarket number (of equal or less weight)!

- everything else I can easily live with -
- there is an art to stylish entry and exit;
- boot is surprisingly roomy (and you can cook you groceries in there on the way home)!

OK since none of you guys have the guts to ask. Could you please describe exactly what the hell a pornstar drone is????:D
Chris
Who is beginning to believe everyone else in the world will have the yota powered elise before us yanks!!:p
