I am thinking of purchasing a Lotus. I have already seen one or two examples of '05s for sale where either the A/C is inoperative or the blower for the A/C and heat is inoperative. From my forum search efforts, there seems to be a resistor or other electrical gremlin that shorts out in the controller.

My only question, and apologies if I didn't glean this from the other threads and should of, is that assuming this is the likely cause of the problems I've seen and my understanding of the problem is close to correct, how difficult (or expensive) of an item is this to fix?

Replacing the resistor pack is easy :)

Getting to it is the challenge :(

It is essentially a full days work and two people are needed to remove and replace the front clam.

Thanks for replies. Is this issue specific to certain years or is it ongoing?

I purchased mine with a blown resistor pack, it's a pain to swap out but as long as you're mechanically inclined, it's relatively simple. Just don't be surprised when you finish it up and find that the ac is still no better :D
