So I don't know if all of you know or not, but Jon from Dietschwerks has opened his own shop (TrackSpec Autosports) and they work on performance cars (Lotus included). Rob Dietsch is still one of the best and most knowledgeable Lotus specialist I know in the Bay Area.

To support Jon in his new venture and attend his Grand opening with BBQ on October 12th (this Sunday) in Fremont from 10am-4pm, I will be doing a morning drive before heading to the BBQ event at his shop on 7100 Stevenson Blvd, Fremont.

As for the drive, I've changed it to a different route (original route is on the Silicon Valley lunch thread), because Lion is right and the road is pretty much an one car lane and if there are even some bicyclists on the road..with the new 3-ft law, we are pretty much going to go at snail pace. The new route will also have bicyclists, but the roads are much wider, so we can pass them when we get the chance. I'm sure there will be other cars too, but its the weekend..can't get what we always want.

New Route: Meet at Starbuck's parking lot off of 18764 Cox Ave, Saratoga, CA 95070 at 8:30am and leave at 9:00am.
Take a left on Saratoga Ave and it turns into Highway 9, take that all the way up and then right on Highway 35, then it ends and make a right on Highway 92, take the San Mateo Bridge across 101, then take all city industrial backroutes because the freeway is boring :), exit Industrial Blvd (#25A), make a right on Industrial Blvd, make a right on Hesperian Blvd, make a right on Paseo Padre Parkway, make a right on Willow St, make a left on Central Ave, make a right on Cherry St, then make a right on Stevenson Blvd, and the shop/event is on the right hand side (7100 Stevenson Blvd).

Total time (by Google's account): 1hr and 47min, distance: 68.9 miles.

As for leading, I can do it, but I'm not the fastest..so if someone else wants to be more spirited and lead..I am all for it. I will be there even if I am alone, I just want to drive.

Thanks.

Doubt I'd get the track tires off / street tires back on the Lotus before then. But did get the Subie up Highway 9 last weekend, both stop lights with one way traffic lanes have been removed, so you should have smooth driving.

I may have some family coming into town this weekend, but if not, I'd like to make this one... Should know for sure by tomorrow evening.

Here's a link and a map of the drive John's proposed:

Good to hear they no longer have the one way lanes! Those took forever to change...

If you guys are okay with doing a slightly longer drive, I'd take Pescadero Creek Rd. THE BEST drive on the Peninsula. If you're interested, I can draw up a map.

I did Hwy 9 > 35 > Alice's > 84 > 1 > 17, a couple weeks ago and it was a blast! Didn't even see Pescadero Creek off the 84... From a map, it looks sweet! Something for next time!

You should show me your painting technique for the needles before I go and buy the paint. I'm planning to install it in a weeks time.

Let's just say, I'm a canyon road snob (check my signature) and I wouldn't go out of my way to drive any road in the Peninsula except for Pescadero Creek.
