Just a simple question here, hoping someone may have some first-hand experience with....

Anyone know of a (nice) replacement available oil filler cap for an '88 Esprit?

Thanks
No, but I do remember a story of a guy with an 88 Esprit who ran it so long while it was overheating, that the oil filler cap melted into the cams...

Sorry it's a terrible pic, but it seems to be the only one I have at the moment that shows the filler cap.

It's black with a glossy Lotus emblem. Possibly in Gold.
Wonder if taht will work on a 4 cylider?

Oil Cap

The oil cap on eBay is gorgeous, but the threads are incorrect for an Esprit. So.... I put the cap in my lathe and just cut off the threads. I have a piece of Delrin lying around, so I cut the correct threads, bored the center and pressed in on the cap. Works great, doesn't leak. Took me several hours, but it does look good, doesn't it? -Steve

^^^ Props to you Steve! Nice work!

When my OE black oil filler cap broke I couldn't find an aftermarket replacement that would fit (that was in the late 90's tho').

Try a dealer, or JAE to get the orange replacement cap.
