I'm adding AEM oil temp. and pressure gauges to an 06 Elise. Temp gauge is easily connected to my oil pan. When I replace the pressure sender do I need to connect the old wire to anything? Will it effect anything if I don't?

Idiot light is connected to the ecu that treats it as an active low discrete input (ground = low pressure). The ecu then packetizes that signal into the digital CAN packet which is consumed by the dash.

The correct way to install an oil pressure gauge is to remote mount the AEM sender. So the best way to do it is:
Use a BSP to AN adapter at the block.
Use a AN (-3) to a remote mounted NPT Tee.
At the Tee use a -3AN to NPT adapter and connect to the AN line off the block. Screw the AEM pressure sensor into another port, and in the last port use a NPT to BSP adapter and screw in the stock idiot light.

Otherwise you can leave out the stock low oil pressure sensor and it shouldn't be a big deal. The idiot light would just never turn on (you have an oil pressure gauge anyways)

You will notice the light before noticing the gauge. Keep the light too.
