Somewhat off-topic, did anybody else see this week's 5th Gear, with the segment on used Elises (whether or not they're a good buy, what to look out for etc? It was pretty good (IMO anything featuring an Elise is!), focusing on the S1 since in England that's what is more prevalant on the used car market. Some nice visuals. Also a funny bit on a Smart car drive from London to Brighton, I love those Smarts !

Seen it, loved it - EXCEPT the shitty reference to the US (forgot exactly what it was) something about the British being the best pilots in the world and our chopper being the ugliest - more mild US bashing

JC's "We don't shoot our Allies " quip was irritating, but he Irritates me anyway. His contributions to print seem to ooze the same ethnocentric attitudes, even when you translate the lingo.

Probably slightly less irritating than being shot up by some trigger happy cowboy who's supposed to be on your side though...

I would imagine that the British troops at some time have shot their allies, if not them selves. It is not an uncommon occurance on the battlefield.

I would be surprised if some Londoners were not killed or injured by falling anti-aircraft fire during the German bombing raids of WWII.

Comments like these are often made out of ignorance, emotion, or both and not careful consideration of all the facts and circumstances.

Nobody wants to shoot their allies, it kind of defeats the purpose.

Lighten up, it was just a minor joke at our expense. Most semi-political humor has to have a wee bit of truth or bite in it to be funny. Considering he just got finished with a segment with a gunship trying to mock blow him to bits you think it might have been a continuation of that silliness?
