Ordering Already !!!

Strange news on my front... I wrote an email to PBMC asking them to link to my website, and they wrote back saying that they had been trying to get in contact with me about ordering my Elise. I was taken a bit by surprise, because I'm #52 on the list! I was kind of hoping that being so far back I would get a chance to see some of the other cars being delivered and get to actually look at the colors before making my final decision. Anyone else think it's odd that they want me to order so soon?

Surprising ... Are they asking for more money?
Can this mean that there is a huge dropoff on the wait list?

Since Lotus is giving the dealers very short deadlines to submit orders, they may want to gather ordering info in advance so that they can be ready to submit when Lotus gives the word. Or else you moved into the top 30 very quickly.
Unfortunately, they do want more money. I don't think Lotus is asking them for the orders, because they couldn't give me a good idea of when the car would arrive.

Maybe they are trying to pad their bank accounts and make some interest money. How much more? Figure 5K total, 50 orders, 250K they don't have kick up to LCU sitting in their bank drawing interest.
I talked to Palm Beach Motorcars and asked them if they were going to be asking for more money when it came time to order the car. I gave them $2000 down back in July when other people after me mentioned they only were asked to put $1000 down.

The dealer said they might be asking for more money just to get rid of the people that were not serious or were waffleing. I told him that it was no problem and I could give them more down if they needed it when they placed the order. But when they placed the order back in January they said they didnt need any more down.

I think they are just trying to make sure they dont get stuck with people who cant get financing when it comes time to get the car. My contract says I have 15 days after delivery to the dealer to pick up the car, or I lose my deposit to the extent that the dealer was out and have to pay 5% interest on the amount of the car until it is resold. So its like a s**t or get off the pot clause.

Steve: The bad thing is that you might have to come up with some extra money when you order, but the good thing is that those that werent sure (I heard a rumor that one guy ordered 3 at West Palm- probably a speculator) will probably drop off the list and you will get the car sooner.

Autostrada is not asking for any more money when they place the order, however the $1500 original deposit becomes non-refundable when the car is ordered.
