This probably ends the Elise, Noble debate in a hurry! 0-60 MPH in 2.94 secs! This is not a car, its a rocket!
Did someone say "base price starting at under $40,000? :D
There's a 2 missing in your price, it's under $240,000 (239,000$ to be exact). It's made by SSC (USA), here's the link from another forum that has all the tech details:

Quarter mile in 10.44 ?!? Seems a bit slow (it's all relative though) with such a high horsepower/weight ratio (908hp for 2720lb), doesn't it ?
0-100-0 in 11.6 seconds, just 1.3 seconds slower than an Ultima. :)
Oversized Cockpit
They lost me there...is that really a feature? What they are telling us is that they made the car too big (heavy) so people that weigh 400lbs can fit:confused:

I will keep my Elise thanks:cool:
Looks like they spliced the back of a Saleen S7 with the front of a Diablo and added the Ultima's side intake for good measure.

Who is backing this venture? Never heard of it. Lemme guess- Ford power?

The Ultima is apparently the "Ultimate"... Another Lee Noble design the Nobel is an example of his more recent work.
Still the end all to the Elise vs Noble debate was when Lee Noble himself raced his new M400 (fully track prepped) and got spanked by not one but two Elise. Nuff said:clap:

I thought Noble beat the Elises? Bear in mind that these are Motorsport Elises, whereas the Noble is very similar to the M400 you can buy for the road.

Looks like the car uses Ford Focus headlights. How supercar and unique is that?

WARNING: there is some LOUD ass revving after the page loads. Make sure your volume is real low.
I can't see this being that much fun to drive on a mountain road at 83" wide, 1" wider than an H2 Hummer  No doubt its a carnival at the drag strip or for posing.
Still doesn't compare 'performance wise' with the 'Hennessey' Viper. For $149,500
you get the 2004 Venom 1000hp Twin Turbo that specs out at :
0-60 mph - 2.2 Sec.
1/4 Mile - 9.75 @152 mph
Top Speed - 245 mph
Power - 1,000 hp @ 5600 rpm
Torque - 1,100 lb-ft @ 3600 rpm

'Hennessey Perormance' produced the 2001 Viper GTS Venom - 1000 Twin Turbo
(current world-record holder: 8.93 @ 150 mph 1/4 mile.)
Except Hennessey is a fraud whose overpriced crap doesn't work--if you can get him to deliver something to you after paying for it.
I think the escalating power wars are verging on ridiculous. Mainly because chassis technology cannot keep up. I would say for the most part, cars with over 500BHP (and similar torque) cannot employ this power on the street. It can only be exploited on a racetrack.

It's hard for me to believe, for example, the Hennessey car can post those numbers on street tires, even on a dragstrip. That car almost certainly had to have racing slicks. Even all wheel drive is not going to tame those kind of massive power numbers.

If it weren't for automatic traction and throttle control, tons of these super-powered Mercedes and other mega-cars would be planted sideways every day. Sans those controls, when your average owner planted the throttle in a modest fit of road rage, those tires would break loose in a heartbeat and those supercars would become super-expensive scrap metal.

At levels like 600-700 BHP, the numbers are just about image and bragging rights IMHO, with little functional value, even in performance terms, to recommend them. (Unless you are racing or going for sustained top speed runs of course.)

Sorry to disappoint, but it was the motorsports Elises that got spanked.
